As many of you know, I have been doing dialysis (due to lupus – my story here) for many years. Although, I’m doing very well considering the situation (no pain, good energy, no complications, etc.), one of my main issues have been gaining the weight I lost since when I first started. Yes, I have gained at least five pounds over the journey, and I celebrate all my wins. Yet, I still have about 15lbs to go as my goal is to reach 115lbs, my normal weight.
(Check out Living Well On Hemodialysis video.)
This is the first video of the Exercise & Gains Series where I show the yoga exercises, I do each morning prior to going to treatments three times a week. These really help especially when I have done weight workouts the day prior.
I can’t imagine having lupus or having to have regular dialysis. I struggle with my own invisible disabilities, but I’m lucky in that most of it can be managed with medication. What’s the plan for helping you return to your previous weight?
Greetings. 🙂 I had to go through a lot of mental and emotional healing (therapy and techniques at home) in addition to the physical healing to be able to deal with what I went through. It is true we all have our battles and I do wish you well on your journey. My plan, in addition to the exercises I mentioned above, is to continue on my eating regimen and making sure to get the appropriate number of calories to aid in the process. I’m not directly counting them but rather increasing my portions.
